In 2012, Randy Butterfield of The Midnight Card Company created the Ornate edition of playing cards inspired by the bright colors of gemstones. A total of 4 color versions were created and divided into two sets - Emerald/Amethyst and Sapphire/Scarlet.
The Ornate Sapphire cards are sapphire blue and are complemented with a red Ornate Scarlet deck.
Cards from the Midnight Card Company feature completely redesigned faces. The design of the figures, the layout, the color of the symbols, and the background of the cards differ. The red cards have a red background, and the black cards have a grey-black background with blue details.
The ornamental reverse of these cards will stand out in card games, cardistry, or magic.
The deck includes red and blue Jokers and a special half-back double-back card.
The cards were printed by the United States Playing Card Company on Aristocrat stock.
Limited edition of 2.500 decks.
