In 2012, Randy Butterfield from the Midnight Card Company created the Ornate edition of playing cards inspired by gemstones - specifically emerald, amethyst, and sapphire.
The Ornate Emerald cards are, of course, colored green and are paired with the purple Ornate Amethyst deck.
The cards from Randy and the Midnight Card Company are characterized by completely modified faces. The Spades and Clubs have a gray-black background with green details. Hearts and Diamonds have a purple background.
The ornamental back design makes these cards stand out at the game table and in magic or cardistry.
The deck includes green and purple Jokers with a "jester's scepter" design and a special half-back gaff card.
The cards were printed by the United States Playing Card Company on Aristocrat stock with a Magic Finish.
Limited edition of 2.500 decks.
